Re: VHSL Forensics Supers Tournament

Dear Forensic coaches,

Fluvanna is excited to be hosting the ​Region 3CD Supers Forensics meet this year! In order for things to run smoothly, it is important that I pass on some basic information.

1. Tournament date:

1. Saturday, February 25.

2. Snow date: Saturday, March 4.

1. The Extemp topics:

1. Round 1 - American foreign policy

2. Round 2 - Central and South America

3. Round 3 - Economics

4. Round 4 - Controversies in entertainment

1. Judges:

1. Each school is required to provide at least 1 judge.

2. If possible, it would help if schools could provide 2 judges.

3. Do you have “Clean” judges? If you have “Clean” judges, please let me know! This would be VERY helpful! Clean judges are individuals NOT affiliated with your school. Not parents. Not teachers.

4. Judges need to be trained. Do not bring untrained judges to this tournament!

5. Judges need to have a Tabroom account, and have access to a laptop/electronic device in order to complete online ballots.

6. Judges also need to have a working cell phone number attached to their tabroom account.

7. Stipend for judges is $35

1. Tabroom:

1. We will be using Tabroom for ballots and tabulation.

2. Schools will need to have a tabroom account for registration.

3. Schools are asked to register their teams on tabroom: http://vhslsuper3cd.tabroom.com

1. Regional entry forms:

1. Per VHSL Rules, each school needs to submit entries on the VHSL Super entry form. Forms can be found here: https://www.vhsl.org/forensics/

2. VHSL forms due February 17, 2023

1. We will be running 3 rounds with 2 judges per round.

Schedule (approximate):

Registration 8:30-9:00

Coach and Judge Meeting 9:00

R1 Extemp Draw 9:30

Round 1 10:00

Lunch 11:30

R2 Extemp Draw 12:30

Round 2 1:00

R3 Extemp Draw 2:00

Round 3 2:30

Awards (approximate) 4:00

1. Food:

1. Coffee and danish will be available in the morning for coaches and judges.

2. Lunch will be provided (no charge) for coaches and judges.

3. Concessions/snacks/beverages will be available for purchase for breakfast and for lunch.

4. We will be offering Chik-Fil-A box meals for purchase at the tournament. Box meals will cost $11 and include: sandwich, chips, cookie.

1. If you would like to purchase Chik-Fil-A meals for your team, email me how many boxes your team will need by Monday, Feb 20.

2. Students can pay for them on Saturday.

3. (Do not include coaches or judges in your count)

1. Please go over all VHSL rules for all events

2. Extemp

1. No wifi/no cell phones permitted in prep room

3. Original

1. Bring a hard copy of the original speech (you will not be allowed to print on site)

4. Interp Events

1. Bring ORIGINAL material (book or ebook) to the tournament in the event a challenge is made. Copies of manuscripts are not acceptable.
